WHAT WILL I GET EACH PICK UP IN A TYPICAL SHARE? A natural meat CSA share can help make your next BBQ spectacular!

The Meat share will contain a rotating selection of seasonally available FROZEN grassfed meats including BEEF, LAMB, CHICKEN, and possibly a TURKEY at thanksgiving.

Most of the meat will not, unfortunately, be certified organic. Due to the high price of certified organic grain, that must be fed to animals to produce certified organic meats, we will be offering natural meats instead.

All meats in our CSA program will come from animals fed NO anitibiotics, hormones, or animal by-products of any kind.

For beef, we will be working with Norwich Creek Farms of Norwich NY, owned and operated by Laura and Curt Sears, Farmer Chris (of Garden of Eve Organic Farm) sister and brother-in-law. They are producing Wagyu/Kobe beef from their strictly grassfed herd.

Some of the poultry will come from our farm, as we raise meat chickens in limited numbers. These will be cornish cross.

Other meats will be from 8 O'clock ranch, an upstate NY family farm with a reputation for unparalleled quality and flavor.

The once-a-month meat share will include approximately 3 cuts per month, which will change significantly month to month:

  • one premium item, such as a steak or roast or chops
  • one lower-value item, such as chopped meat
  • one value-added item when possible, one poultry cut, or another piece of beef. everyone loves a farm-raised burger

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The Meat share is $180 for the full season of 6 pick-ups, which works out to $30 per pickup.

Our goal is to supply you with good value and great quality. The quantity of meat will vary depending on the type of product and its monetary value.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

CSA is like a subscription, or a vegetable-of-the-week club. You pay in full for your share before the distributions begin in early June, and in return for your commitment to our farm we provide you with just-picked organic produce at a good value, as well as farm trips, news, recipes, and a community of like-minded people to get to know!

2012 SEASON DETAILS

Meat shares are a monthly pickup for the 24 week season, for a total of 6 pickups. ALL Meat PICKUPS WILL BE ON "A" weeks (i.e. the first pickup of the season, and every other week after that.)

Wednesday pickups: begin Wed June 6, end Wed Nov 14 (week before Thanksgiving)

Saturday pickups: begin Sat June 9, end Sat Nov 17 (weekend before Thanksgiving)

If you are not able to make your share pick-up, you are welcome to have a friend pick up your share. No prior notice is required, just tell them to check in under your name.
